Meysam Nejad Rasouli
Meysam Nejadrasouli was born in 1981 in Tehran. He graduated from Soureh University in Tehran with a degree in Handicrafts in 2005. In 2007, he took part in various artistic projects at Soureh University, Sabalan Art Gallery, and City Theaters.
In 2010, he presented a painting performance at the closing ceremony of the Fajr Theater Festival in Tehran. In 2018, he illustrated the book “Arash-e-Kamangir.” Between 2000 and 2022, he participated in over 100 group exhibitions across Iran, Dubai, and Istanbul, and held 10 solo exhibitions in Iran between 2001 and 2022.
Since 2006, he has been working as a visual arts teacher, organizing more than 10 workshops as well as painting and sculpture exhibitions for his students. In 2022, he held weekly “Pop Open Studio” performances at “Art Here Istanbul” and participated in the Bodrum Art Fair.
He continues his artistic production alongside his educational activities.
Manifesto
Meysam Nejad Rasouli's artistic practice explores architecture as a vessel of cultural memory and historical continuity. Throughout the history of art, architecture has functioned as a shared ground where different artistic disciplines converge, embodying the cultural, social, and intellectual legacy of civilizations. More than physical structures, historical monuments stand as silent witnesses, preserving the grandeur, transformation, and decline of societies across generations.
Rasouli approaches historical architecture as a living archive of human experience. Each structure carries the traces of individual lives, legends, and mythological narratives, sustaining them like an enduring spirit that transcends time. What appears to be an assemblage of stone, wood, and brick is, in his work, reimagined as the birthplace of culture, art, and collective thought.
Through his paintings, the artist seeks to reveal this enduring spirit and the cultural vitality embedded within historical architecture. The recurring use of blue to depict architectural forms—contrasted against luminous gold and orange backgrounds—symbolizes the immortality of these ancient connections, emphasizing the timeless dialogue between history, memory, and human civilization.
